I can't help but be super stoked about the upcoming movie, "The Hobbit." After all, it was and is one of my all-time favorite novels. I've read it at least three times and played the 2003 Xbox version of the game until we got a 360, which did not support it [lame]. I'd still play it if I could. I digress. The question on my mind is whether or not they will change it to the point of disappointment for readers. Let's face it, if you're a fan of "The Lord of the Rings" movies, but never read the books, then you probably won't understand this. But if you were a fan of the books before the movie, you know what I'm talking about. I don't understand why directors feel the need to do so much changing to stories. I know time and length is a big issue, and for some movies, it's absolutely necessary, or else the movie would be 6 hours long. But for those same movies, I've seen added material that was never in the book to begin with, so that always makes me a little agitated. I'm hoping that this time, it will follow the book as closely as possible. Either way, I know I'll still love it, just as I did "The Lord of the Rings." Although, that was mostly because the cast was excellent! And we'll get to see some of those same wonderful actors this time around too, such as Ian Mckellen and Christopher Lee. I mean, come on, if you're going to make a fantasy movie epic, you must have Christopher Lee. So, I'll end by saying that I'm counting down until the 14th, and will back in the shade as soon as I see the movie in the theater. I truly hope they do it justice. As an author, I'd love to have any of my books turned into movies, but only if the original story holds. Do you think Tolkien would be pleased? Thoughts?
